Why Choose Sterling Recruitments?

Sterling was founded by Clive Sturgess, our Managing Director in 2005. Initially setting up on his own in a home office, supplying drivers to a single client. Later that year, Sterling moved into an office space in Pangbourne, and took on its first employee, and began to supply several clients. Sterling then expanded into the supply of warehouse staff, something that remains at the core of our business today, and not only supplying local clients in the Reading area, but beginning to supply sites nationwide.

We have worked in industries varying from cosmetics, to supermarkets, the automotive industry and many others in between. In 2010 Clive’s daughter Polly joined the company having spent several years working in the city and having achieved a Master’s Degree bringing new fresh ideas to the business.
Today, we pride ourselves on still being a small family-run business that has been built on long-lasting professional relationships, some of which span the existence of Sterling itself.

We still serve clients both large and small, and work on contracts across many industries and geographic areas. We have seen a number of changes in the industry since we first started and believe that part of our success comes from remaining small and easily being able to adapt, whilst still giving all of our customers that personal service. Although we have expanded our team, all our clients still have direct contact with Company Directors, who understand the constraints of running a business and how imperative a quick response to a change of circumstances can be. Which is why, although it may be counter-intuitive to other companies, we make a concerted effort to maintain a structure that allows us to maintain this relationship with all of our clients, no matter their size or requirements, whether that is to manage a contract with hundreds of workers, or a start-up looking to hire their first employee.

We constantly work with our existing clients to ensure that we provide them with the best service for them. That can mean finding more efficient ways for them to run, even if that means we reduce our agency hours. We firmly believe in delivering what we promise our clients. And finally, we believe that as Directors, we want to remain personally involved with all of our sites.
We constantly strive to work in partnership with both our clients, and our workers. We recognise that people have a number of options when it comes to registering with an agency, and to attract and retain people, we must work with them as much as possible. Although our clients use agency staff for flexibility, we work with them in their planning, to offer as much stability to temporary workers as possible.

We are also members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. As well as providing us with various training and support, we must adhere to their Code of Conduct as well as complete and annual assessment to ensure our knowledge of industry specific legislation is to the highest standard.

We are also involved with the Stronger Together initiate that is dedicated to reducing modern slavery.
